"When You Care For A Community, You Change Lives." – F.H. Furr

SERVE OUR WILLING WARRIORS

Providing support and encouragement to our nation's warriors and their families during their recovery process!

For nearly a decade, the Serve Our Willing Warriors organization has been providing “a little taste of home” for wounded, ill and injured warriors and their families at both the Walter Reed and Fort Belvoir Community Hospitals. Their annual events have included gift-giving at holidays, summer cookouts and visitation with lonely service and family members. Letting these special service members know we care is one of the ways that our community can show their appreciation!

Serving soldiers who have sacrificed so much for us has always been a priority for F.H. Furr! We seek out special organizations to sponsor and partnership with, and Serve Our Willing Warriors was exactly the type of giving group that we wanted to help. We just KNEW we had to be a part of this incredible organization!

Our shared goal is to create a growing coalition of aware, engaged and supportive individuals and communities to work alongside us as we continue to provide ongoing support to our wounded, ill and injured warriors and their families through sponsoring “Willing Warrior” hospital events and peaceful, restorative “Warrior Getaways” at our Bull Run Warrior Retreat!

Serve Our Willing Warriors Retreat

Bull Run Warrior Retreat

F.H. Furr became a sponsor of SOWW as the Bull Run Warrior Retreat was becoming a reality! This amazing retreat allows soldiers and their families to enjoy a much-needed break from the hospital environments where they can reconnect, reflect and renew in a peaceful, family home prepared just for them. This labor of love included:

  • Two years to remodel the home on the property
  • Over 900 volunteers (ages nine to 92)
  • 150 contracting and material supply companies donated
  • Several hundred tradesmen worked on the house
  • Over $1.1 million dollars in donations of material, workmanship, and furnishings

As a family owned and operated business, we are all extremely proud to be a part of this “home away from home” for warriors and their family’s. We love what Serve Our Willing Warriors stands for, and we’re proud to support them in all they do! -F.H. Furr

Get to know Serve Our Willing Warriors!

It officially began in 2012 in the town of Haymarket, Virginia. Park Valley Church planted the seeds for this incredible organization, and saw it through to becoming a full fledged non-profit benefiting the wounded and ill warriors of America.

It started with the founding members of the church visiting recovering soldiers at the Ft Belvoir and Walter Reed hospitals, and continued well beyond the 30 day period that they’d set for themselves as a ministry. What began as a short term endeavor, turned into annual summer cookouts and holiday gift-giving visits. The gratitude received from these men and women, and the positive response for what they felt was so small an effort made it apparent that their mission was much greater; there was more that could be offered.

In 2013, SOWW purchased 37 magnificent acres of scenic property on the edge of Bull Run Mountain in Haymarket, VA. The 11,000 square foot house built in 1977, underwent an extensive two-year renovation and now boasts five bedroom suites, a gourmet kitchen, game room, physical therapy and massage therapy rooms, and library. The retreat has two decks to accommodate the majestic views, an inviting stone patio with fire pit, a playground, BBQ area, vegetable garden, serenity garden, and walking trails.

The Bull Run Warrior Retreat was presented to the general public at a ribbon cutting ceremony held on July 4th, 2015  and officially opened on Veteran’s Day, November 11th, 2015. Our hope, and the hope of the Serve Our Willing Warriors organization, is that the community will recognize these selfless heroes and find ways to get involved in thanking them for all that they do!
